Two new books, Doğa Bilimlerinin Tarihi (The History of Natural Sciences) and Matematik Bilimleri ve Teknolojinin Tarihi (The History of Mathematical Sciences and Technology), edited by Şule Taşkıran, a faculty member at the Institute for the History of Science at Istanbul Medeniyet University, have been published.

The History of Natural Sciences

This volume examines the development of the natural sciences within a historical framework that extends from Ancient Egypt to modern science, including the contributions of Indian, Chinese, Greek, and Islamic civilizations. The study analyzes the philosophical, theoretical, and cultural underpinnings of disciplines such as physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, and medicine. As a multi-authored collection, the book presents the natural sciences as a process shaped by the contributions of diverse cultures and serves as a resource for research in the field.

The History of Mathematical Sciences and Technology

This study adopts a holistic approach to the history of mathematics, physics, and technology by examining the processes of knowledge production in different civilizations. It analyzes the historical course of mathematical thought, physical understanding, and technological design, focusing on Ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, the Islamic world, and Europe. The work concentrates on topics such as the institutionalization of knowledge, channels of transmission, and practical applications, positioning it as a reference for researchers in the history of science.
